Some of us here in Mexico City are going to have a Halloween party...costumes and funky punch. Saturday, October 27th...7 PM and forward, in Colonia Roma. BYOB aside from the punch. PM me if you would like directions.

Hehehe...a little "pay-back" for dealing with their daily hijinks.

Plus, I think theyll look cute (as all "mothers" do Wink ).

Where is the best place in the D.F. to look for inexpensive makings for a costume?

Al centro, in and around 20 de Noviembre, if you're going to buy fabric to whip something up. Thelmadatter made my costume!

Wal-mart likely has some inexpensive make-up too.

Oh yeah, bring a little something to throw in the bowl. I'm planning on treating the neighbourhood kiddies to some scary treats again this year.

The Santa Costume I bought in Coyocan. (is that spelled right?) A stall in the street market had HUNDREDS of dog costumes, it was Nov. 20th when I bought it because I was there cheering my husband on in the TV Azteca 10k race (in came in the top 100!). Most, but not all the costumes where christmas themed. My little dog Chela wears it to the university's posada each year, and Phil, she loves it! Everyone says "Mirra la perrita" and she struts along soaking up the attention.

The bee dogs weren't actually my dogs, they came from a website called www.beedogs.com But last year I had to dress my daughters as bees for their mother's day program, so as soon as they grow out of those costumes they are going on the dogs for a photo to submit to the beedogs website! Laughing

Thanks for the tip MELEE.

Guess Ill have to see if Thelmadatter and I can figure out a way to get a turban on the terrorist...I mean terrier...and figure something out for the regal galgo of the household.

mmmm a turban... I can think one one way to do it but the best we will be able to do is keep it on her long enough for a picture! for the galgo.. the racing thing they put on the dogs and a stuffed rabbit.

I found green makeup at Walmart and bought it so my costume of "ogre queen" (a la Princess Fiona's mother) is on! Got the fabric for the dress, just have to get my lazy butt to make it. Need to get a crown / tiara too.

You know, I used to think you could find ANYTHING in Mexico City.

Spent most of today looking around for a severed limb. Nothing. Nada. I'm disappointed now.

Oh come on, surely you weren't looking in the right places? But I think that's the sort of thing you wouldn't have any problem special ordering in some parts of Mexico City, you should wait until the day you need it, so that it's still fresh, and probably have a Mexican do the negociation for you so you don't get Gringo prices!
