In a couple of weeks I am moving from the states to Hsin-chu and I am wondering about immunizations for Taiwan. None are required for entry and I have all the basics (Tdap, HepB), but do most teachers get the HepA vaccine before leaving? I read that this vaccine is only good for 6 months anyway. What about typhoid? japanese encephalitis? |

i got hepA before i came... it's not "only good for 6 months." it's good forever. however, you're not 100% immune after one shot. that's why you get a booster, usually after 6 months, then you're set. my doctor said i can wait and get my booster when i return home after a year. |

I got Hep A before I came too, but mainly because I was coming through Russia and Mongolia and other queasy places. But now i'm glad i had it, the hygiene here is pretty questionable in a lot of places. Typhoid was together in the same shot, which was nice.
It's always better to have a shot and not need it than the other way around, right? |

Wondering how much it costs to get the 2 shots of Hep A in Taiwan and can I just go to a walk in clinic?
It's quite expensive in Canada. $60 and I think for only one shot.
I already got my Hep B and Tetanus. |
