Gosh i'm bored... hence perusing forum... hot weather seems to be leading to a lot of sniping.... Howabout an expat party Thursday 19th...(ladies plenty of time to book coiffeurs appt.) Can talk about really annoying things turks say, mensroom threads and whether anyone has managed to track down a pack of applicator tampons in Istanbul. Failing that.. get absolutely lashed.. fall down the stairs.. then realise there's an elevator.. wake up Friday somewhat bruised but happy and not at all snipey?? Any takers? Laughing

ps I know a fab terrace in Beyoglu with elevator, a cool breeze and cheap beverages who will close it off for a party.

pps No I am not a tout for aforementioned establishment

Experience has told me that organizing anything that involves fellow Brits or Yanks or whatever with the express purpose of a social intercourse type event (bet that will get a few comments ) usually is a lot more trouble than its worth esp down here . Nice idea though ,good luck !

An old lady on the ME boards, who's even older than our resident wrinkly, Scot, compares organising TEFLers to herding cats ...

Could be good fun and as long as you don't charge 10YTL entrance fee you claim to need for browsing around here and let people meet at expensive venues. Too bad, by that time next week I'll be sitting on a train somewhere between Istanbul and Zrich....

I'd like to come. Hope people won't be "I don't speak to strangers" types. Is it ok to bring a few students as well? And may I suggest that you change the title of the event to "Immigrants' Party"?
