Yay... the time has finally come and my EF contract has come to an end. I thought this day would never come but it has. I have a question for all of you. The school that I am working for is telling me that I need to get an exit stamp here in Jakarta and that I then have 14 days to leave the country. Does this sound right??? I am planning on leaving from the Denpasar airport and I don't want any hassle from the imigration officers. I don't want to have to pay any bribes. Does anyone know the "law"????? Thanks in advance Smile

Yes, you need an exit permit from the local immigration office but your school should be the one to get it for you. I'm sure there is something in your contract saying they will cover the costs of visas etc. If they are so cheap as not to, it is a pretty easy thing to get but easier still with an agent. You need a letter from your employer and fill in a form.

Are you planning on leaving and not coming back, or are you looking for a new (and better) job?

Either/or, makes no difference if you're not re-signing with the same company, you still have to leave the country to get a new KITAS.

Sounds like the OP's outta there.

P.S. To those who are worried about "breaking their EF contract" - if the contract isn't in Bahasa Indonesia as well as English, it's not legally binding.

P.P.S. If the English and Bhs. Ind. versions of a contract vary, the Bhs. Ind. version takes precendence.

P.P.P.S. If this isn't a good reason to learn Bhs. Ind., I don't know what is.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I'm planning on coming back in September, but on a 6 month Social Visa. My teaching days are over. This experience @ EF has really turned me off about teaching. My only problem now is that my KITAS is valid for one month after my contract ends and I would like to spend the next month in Bali & Lombok without having to come back to Jakarta. Now it seems like i have to come back to Jakarta to get this exit stamp. Is it possible to get an exit stamp which allows you to remain in the country for longer than 14 days. My other option is mailing my passport to Jakarta and hoping that it will get mailed back to me. Judging by how "organized" and "well" this school is run, the ladder of the 2 is out of the question.

the other thing that u can do is get your epo, then fly to batam/singapore and come back here using the visa on arrival program. then u wouldnt need to come back to jkt or deal with your school again. also from what i have heard, that when u leave on an epo, you dont need to pay fiscal. good luck

Once you get your EPO you don't need to pay "fiscal", but I have known countless schools and people who have paid it anyway...me included until a friend let me in on "the secret"...... Anyways it's a big money maker for Immigration!.

At the airport or ferry, go directly to Immigration to get your passport stamped, if they say anything, just say you are not required to pay..

A free 1 juta, if you are that way inclined....
