Just thought I would let anyone interested know about the recent development of American Football in Poland. Almost every major city in Poland has a team ( amateur ). I have been recruited by the Krakow Tigers to coach them, they also set me up with the teaching job. If any other ESL teacher has coaching experience the league could definately use your help.
I know there are a lot of rugby lovers out there so spare the remarks about having to wear so much padding, I have played both and know the difference, both tough sports.

Is there a team in Gdansk? I'll be there in September. How old are the players?

Yeah there are teams in each major city. Check out this website
www.pzfa.pl , the contacts are listed. Gdansk needs players. Age range is 18-30 years old. League started in spring of 2005.

I'm about 30 years over the 30 year age limit so I an't gonna be playing. I played three years in high school, briefly as a freshman at UW (Washington) until I got hurt, and have a pretty good grasp of fundamentals. I'll check out the Gdansk team when I move there in September to teach.

BTW, good link. Thanks.

Nice to know I won't have a total football Jones when I'm in Poland.

I happened to write an article about American Football in Poland for the Warsaw Voice last year.

Dear blaz44 and scottie1113: Great to hear about US style football in Poland. I usually visit about twice a year with my Polish bride, but this December's trip will probably have to be cancelled. My wife's family lives in the Gdansk area (the Tri - Cities); scottie1113, I think it is a great area, hope you find it so. I can retire in 8 years and 102 days (but who's counting?) and now can plan my second career as the George Halas of Poland.

Popped along today to see what the Warsaw Eagles are like, with a view to getting involved and was quite impressed. A pretty good turn out given that it started at 10am on Sunday morning and the team (currently the best in Poland) certainly looked as of they could play a game. Looking forward to next Sunday.
