Has anyone else experienced the feeling that they just wanted to get out of Asia? Asian people are nice and I have made some good friends in Korea but sometimes the working habits and dating scene leave a little to be desired. What are your thoughts?

P.S. I didnt come to Korea to meet a wife but it would be nice to make a girlfriend to hang out with in my free time.

Once I realized that I was starting to turn into a Japanese salaryman, I knew I had to get out of Japan!

How were you becoming like a Japanese salary man? Were you working 10 hours a day?

So many would love Europe, but unless you have credentials that are month-watering in Canada,USA,UK etc...you're looking at a pittance. That leaves Eastern Europe at a stipend. Russia...why ? Well, maybe outside the main cities.South America ? I think same as Eastern Europe...leaving ? Asia! or a catacomb in M.E.;and personally, I'd be looking over my shoulder a bit too much.

Yes, but what really worried me was that I realized that I was starting to think like a Japanese salaryman.

Same can go for LA, everyone thinks that people are laid back here, but most people in Peru work 10 hour days, six days a week for 200 USD a month. I realise it's time to get out of Peru, because I'm doing the same, three jobs, 10 hours a day, at least, twice a week I leave at 630am and get back at 9pm. And all this to save 1000USD.

Eastern Europe or Asia seems appealing to me. Europe will be easier if I can get citizenship from Romania.

Eastern Europe really appeals to me, not as touristy as the west and a bit less expensive.

Eastern Europe's less expensive, but you'll make less, too. You wouldn't be able to save $1,000 monthly there, not even with two people working... And the tourists have landed. Even my tiny town two hours from Prague's suddenly been overrun by Americans on tour, for some reason. Prague's as bad as the South of France in August, wall to wall tourists. You might still get away from the bulk of the tourists somewhere really out of the way, though. But you can't escape in Krakow, or Bratislava, or Tallin, or...well, any number of nice little cities where you might hope to.

Naturegirl, even with Romanian citizenship you might find yourself limited in where you can work in Europe. I don't think that Romanian citizens have full European working rights for another few years yet. Check to be sure, but I think that Romanians can only work in the UK and in Ireland.

Somedays I feel like it's time to get out (of Korea) and move on but we have recently signed a two year lease for an apartment so we are here for sure!

I've been in Korea now since 2004 and we plan on leaving in a couple of years time depending on kids and studies. I think at that time it will be definitely time to get out of Korea. We want to go to Europe (I'm Irish) but that market will be a lot tougher than Korea to crack.

Still Korea pays well and I can work and study at the same time which is great.

Yeah, but you are not single. So I doubt that you date Asian women!
