I'm considering doing an MA in TESOL. I'm looking at a few programs, both back home in the states as well overseas. I'm an American currently living/teaching in Vietnam, where the University of Canberra, Australia offers a satellite program.
It costs less and it would be easier for me to do the program here, as I'm already established and set up. One thing I'm concerned about however, is whether or not an MA in TESOL from an Australian university would be recognized in the U.S. This would become important to me if I ever wanted to return home and teach ESL, say at the community college level. |

Hi
If you get a degree from outside the US, a US institution will ask for you to have your degree evaluated from a service like this one:
http://www.ierf.org/
All of my degrees came from UK universities (I am American), so when I got a job at a community college, I had to pay to have my credentials evaluated. Luckily there was no problem and I got the job. If you choose a well-regarded accredited Australian university it should not be a problem.
