Hi there,
Looking for as much feedback as possible here.
My boyfriend and I are about to embark on a trip overseas to teach English...somewhere. Before we put in research, we figured we could end up pretty much anywhere, and now I'm discovering that because he does not have a degree, we are very limited with the places we may end up. China, we have heard, is one of the places where we may have some luck finding work.
Although it may seem like a very ignorant question, I have to ask it because i'm finding the idea of living in such an intimidating envrironment quite overwhelming. Are there certain places that are more coveted to teach in, or should be avoided at all costs? How do those of you that have taught in other places find teaching in China? Any experiences, advice, or words of wisdom to narrow doen our search would be most appreciated. Thanks. |

my advice is: start reading through the archives here. plenty to keep you busy and you'll find the answer to any question you might have. |

There are something like 40,000 of our lot teaching here and about half would have proper degree not copies. Most of us are not on big money so it can't be that bad here huh?
No degree puts you on 3,000 RMB in the smaller cities and up to 8,000RMB in Shanghai but you have to come up with your own accommodation etc. 3,000 with accommodation in a smaller city is okay to live on but is not going to set you up much to move on at a latter date.
Look at the job adds then research the areas that interest you. China is a big country and your question is too open ended!
I have taught in South Korea, Tiawain, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea. Every place has a crowd that enjoy themselves plus those that don't.
My spelling is bad but yours is worse; use a spell checker! |

I think it's in Mexico, but they forget the "a" at the end. |
