This looks exciting, but they forgot to write the salary, or perhaps the pay isn't as good as they claim.

Does anybody have information about the pay/conditions, or experience with this organization?

Never heard of it. Appears to be one of the new organizations being put into place to raise the standards of the high schools. The only difference is this is the first time I've seen any mention of elementary and middle schools as well-a fact that has peaked my interest. The earlier the better is what I've always said. They tried stuff like this last year and it never got off the ground. I wonder if this year will be any different. Salary? The only way to find out is to apply I guess. My biggest question is who is really running this outfit...HCT? Zayed? or is it really the Ministry? My second biggest question is "Where?" Abu Dhabi? Dubai? Al Ain? UAQ?

It did get off the ground. Starting August last year, 30 primary and kindergartens were 'taken over' by 4 companies to raise standards. This looks like this are now going to move at a much faster rate.

I had an interview with them two weeks ago. The package is the same as the ones offered to a person teaching at ZU. This is who I think is in charge of the program. The interview was held there and they have the same HR department. I just recieved an e-mail from them last night. They wanted to me to send in 20 Pics. Maybe this is a good sign. If I learn more about the program I will let you all know.

Hi,

Yes - Alghad Schools is one of those organizations now charged with delivering change to the UAE education system.

They seem to be making use of the local universities to undertake interviews.

The pay and benefits package is the best you'll get. They've capped contact hours and have been relatively overt in their contractual expectations of staff.

Here's hoping they prove to be worthy of the staff they choose to employ!

The monthly salary is 13,000Dhs, housing provided, allowances for furnishings, return annual air tickets much the same as other government employers across the UAE. Maybe no choice about where you're posted.

My friend, who's a British qualified teacher w/ years of experience, was quoted between 16-18 K plus housing allowance, furniture allowance, flights, private medical.

I recieved my contract. The offer was 16000, school fees, housing, airfare for 4, relocation allowance, and insurance. I am sure each person will be offered something different becuase of their qualifacations.

My friend was offered 14000 with the same package. I think this is better than most schools will offer. I was offered a position as a head of a KG department and the package was not even close.

Minister of Education Dr Hanif was also Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council which started school reform with the Public Private Partnership in 2006. This saw Mosaica, NordAnglia, SABIS and CfBT engaged to provide management and mentoring support in the process of curriculum reform. Although Dr. Hanif stepped down as DG of ADEC in March 2006, he has watched the progresss of the PPP initiative with interest and now judges the time right to expand it across schools throughout the country. By cutting out the middle man he reduces the costs (he has brought in a number of ex HCT and ZU staff to manage the operation rather than a bunch of education companies) and has secured funding from the Ministry of Finance for the program odf needed school reform

This sounds like employees are indeed being offered differing amounts. However, is it because the jobs themselves are different? I applied for a Teacher-Mentor position. What about you lynneknows?

lynnknowes and stoth72 - were your friends applying for abu dhabi or dubai? Qualifications? Teaching experience both internationally and domestically?

She was applying to Dubai. Most of her experience teaching has been in the UAE-she even did a 4 year stint as Choueifat (guess it's not the resume killer after all), but also w/ other British curric. schools. My friend is a British passport holder, with parents of English and Arab background, so her knowledge of Arabic likely made her a good candidate.
