One of mine wasn't exciting as such: teaching young up and coming company types who worked for subsidiaries of the Shanghai Tunnel company: the one that does the subway and Huangpu tunnels in Shanghai. These people knew about as much about the mother ship's core business as I did, so one morning we were taken on an excursion underground, to see a giant auger slowly eating its way under the river, hopefully to meet up with another one coming the other way. We were all clad in helmets and waterproofs, observing this 24/7 mammoth undertaking. Awesome. I saw the opening of the tunnel months later on TV, and felt some sense of involvement. I've been in awe of what Chinese civil engineering is capable of achieving in a very short space of time ever since.
Next adventure: the Lhasa railway.

United Nations office in Beijing in 1998 (240 RMB per hour), because the staff were party picked and ultra-conservative.

Offshore drilling company based in Beijing but operating in Hainan.

The focus of the course was project management and communication skills, so we would just run various projects and their status (all in English)

Since my undergrad degree was in Engineering (dual EE and ME) I required them to get as technical as possible (no slack) with their presentations and we had good Q/A and follow-up evaluation sessions.

I thought the presentations were interesting and a good break for me at the time from the typical "What Hobbies do you like" presentations.

I missed the trip to the Hainan office though Sad.

I might add I know a guy that had a private contract to teach English (Sales English) to massage palor and KTV girls.

I think it was 200 RMB an hour, to teach a group of young pretty girls working in the underworld.

I can imagine what the topics were, and lesson plans. I do know this single guy was never short a date or lacking eye candy hanging off his arm.

If I accepted this type of job my 105 lb wife would use her Kung Fu techniques on me.
