absolutely unbelievable. the act itself is directly out of the school yard. a typically knee jerk reaction to something that is essentially harmless. like a couple of 9 year old children arguing over who's daddy can beat up the others daddy and then getting "the silent treatment" as punishment.

underlying cultural differences and simmering issues of years past that have degraded into utter pettyness.

basically the greeks have won. if a small group of harmless pranksters can shut down access to this popular website for a country of 70 million, then they really have won.

why not just confiscate all the computers in the country?

What happened, exactly? Is this a repeat of last year's shut down, brought about by the Greek boys calling Ataturk names?

Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the original ban was from a court in Ankara. Yesterday my better half told me that they had announced on the news that the ban had been lifted, and when I went to check it out, I saw that there was another ban by a court in Sivas....

I suppose there are a lot of Ils and they could keep this game of tag going for a loooong time if they wanted to....

what was it about the 60's, free speech/love and open minds that happened in the west but doesn't happen happen here. i used to think it was the baby boom and the large youth population at the time but that doesn't seen to work here. even with 50% of the population under 25 there is a swing to the right.
