I'm approaching the end of my first year of EFL (in Korea) and thinking the Middle East might be an interesting place for my next, and probably last, year of EFL. I have a BS (in Chemistry) and am not looking for anything great. I understand I'm generally under-qualified, but if I could teach adults (or science), save some cash and experience another culture, I think I could get excited about it. Any possibility of those things coalescing into one position for a newb like myself? If so, what countries ought I be looking at? |

I answered this question on one of the other sections where you posted.
The Gulf is out of the question. You would most likely be able to find a job in the Levant or North Africa with no credentials. But, don't expect to save ANY money. You will be hard pressed to survive beyond starvation basics. Also most of the opportunities would be for teaching children.
As I said before, the best opportunities for someone with no credentials is Asia.

The science department at KU is hiring people with only a BS? I haven't been in any Gulf university that the people in the science departments didn't have PhDs!!
Even to teach English at KU you need an MA...

Sometimes you can teach in the EFL dept I think for foundation courses-but don't quote me on that! |

Kuwait University has a very strict rule about an MA to teach Foundations English...
But this thread is over a year old...
