Hi there !
My name is Tash, I'm 25 years old and I live in Bruges, Belgium. I've been reading most of your topics for a couple of months now and I'm really excited about teaching in CR one day. In September I'll start the second year in college to get a Bachelors degree in teaching English - French - morals. (we always have to pick 3 subjects) Teaching English is my main goal in life and I don't want to do anything else, I love it.
I would like to go to CR to do on internship in 2009, I'm available from January until June. The universities I've found on the Internet are very expensive... I don't really understand why. I want to teach English for free (although I need a mentor to guide me, give feedback and to do some follow-up) I want to start looking for a decent program right now because in September I have to present the project to my college here in Belgium and they have to approve of it before I can start arranging anything else.
Do some of you work at schools that would be interested in offering me an internship? Preferably in the area around San Jose like Heredia, San Pedro, ...
I've been saving money to pay for shared housing and other living costs so that's not a problem. But it would be good to make some extra of course... I'm an experienced nanny (worked as an au pair in North Carolina for a year and I'm currently working in a Belgian family with 5 kids for more than 5 years). I don't know if Costa Rican families take nannies/babysitters?
From what I remember there's someone else also planning on going to CR in 2009... I don't recall who that was. I was wondering if that person would be interested in shared housing? I don't want to look for homestay because I'm vegan and I think that's not very common in Costa Rica so I don't want to bother people with my diet. I can take care of myself.
Thank you for reading my message and hopefully someone can help me out...
Greetings

Geez louise. Well, if I were an administrator of a university or school I'd be falling over myself to hire you. You're certainly way out of the league of the school I work at. |

I've never heard of anyone coming to Costa Rica to do an English teaching internship. Nevertheless, there may be schools interested in you. For one, you could contact my boss at ULACIT, Sr. Jimmy Hernandez:
