| I am aware that there are several testings I can do to make myself qualified to teach English in Turkey. If I do complete CELTA will this help me to teach there even though I do not have a degree. Upon researching this question on the internet, I found that there are companies that do accept this certificate alone, I need to know if its worth doing. I am very interested in moving there for the summer..Maria |

| Look, how many more times; no degree, no legal. That's it, no more to it: you got no degree, u not legal. Copy? |

| It's not worth it "for the summer." You won't get any contracts for such a short time period, in holiday season. |

My school does summer contracts, to cover people who are away on holiday. I know several people here right now on 3 month contracts just for that. Don't know about their credentials- where I work, the minimum is usually BA+CELTA+experience (and 9 months-1 year contracts get their work permits), though these requirements may be waived for short contracts.
Anyway, summer is almost over. Better to apply in April or May. |

| Maria, forgive me if this is not the case, but I get the impression that teaching is not your main motive for coming to Turkey. |

Maria, forgive me if this is not the case, but I get the impression that English is not your native language.
If this is so, you may not be able to find work, even illegally. |

| Never mind, there are lots of lovely Turkish boys working as waiters who'll say things like 'hey, you are very lovely girl, I love you baby' and can't wait to take you up the aisle for the immigration opportunities you provide. |

Am I missing something here? Has Maria done anything other than be interested in becoming a teacher for a few months, to warrant such personal attacks?

| Welcome to Turkey Maria , if you come , the kind of mischief you get on this board will be nothing compared to the bs you will get when and if you start working here . |

.....Poor Maria!! Be nice to her!! It's a ligit question about finding work without a degree. The poor thing's probably only 22.
...However, you as stated before, you need a degree for a work permit. In other words, you will be working illegally. If that's ok by you, then fine. As the guys said before, Summer is on its last legs, so perhaps you could try and get some work experience over the next six months or so and then come over. If you can't find a job in ESL wherever you are, then do some volunteer work at local schools or perhaps with immigrants.....Anything to get some experience. |
