To be filmed, during class, without your consent? Anything I can stand on?

I'm on 'Camera-camero', feel they're selling me.

Who is that is filming you? The school that you work for?

Is the filming being done by a person with a hand held camera or are you talking about the fixed security cameras that are installed in some classrooms?

If it is the fixed cameras were they there when you took up the job or have they been installed since then?

If it is the hand held camera then have you asked the person why they are filming? Have you asked them to stop filming?

Why are you concerned about being filmed while teaching - assuming that it is the school that is doing the filming?

Both types of cameras, Clark, and yes, it's the school. But the fixed cameras are only in one room, not all. The other day I was filmed by a hand-held camera. I think this last film could've been done for a reason.

My company management took a trip to Korea. They may've done so for business purposes, all quite discreet. I didn't ask them, just thought it was another 'You're On Camera-Camera' day.

But for the likes of me, I don't recall anything in my contract saying they'd film me while teaching, which is why I'm concerned. I've been told they 'should' tell you what they will do with these films, and out of courtesy, have them erased after one month, especially if they're done for monitoring purposes only.

What's more, I'm concerned because, number one, it's my face; number two, how about if they're selling me; and number three, as someone also said, they should give you some kind of bonus or reimbursement if this be the case.

As far as the hand held camera filming I agree that it would be courteous of the school to ask for your permission but I don't see any legal reason that they cannot film your classes. You are an employee and you are in the work place.

So what did the school say when you asked them about the purpose of the filming?

I haven't asked them yet, Clark, since the hand-held was done recently, and I'd thought all along the other films were for monitoring purposes.

I'm now becoming suspicious though. You'd think that after four months they'd tell me what I was doing wrong(At this school you get critiqued, in writing, by the CT everyday.) But next week I'm going to ask them to show me the original contract I signed, and take it from there.

I don't know if it's wise or not to ask them why. But I may just quit the job if I feel there's too much of a grey area, since I think they covered this aspect of my contract up.
