I am so tired of reading this over and over again. "Asian women are ________ than Western women." (Insert any or all of the following: better, prettier, more feminine.) "Asian women have nicer ________ than Western women." (Insert any or all of the following: facial features, bodies, [body part]s.)
I think it can be more or less agreed that there is a plethera of Western men out there who prefer Asian women to Western women, for whatever personal reasons. I don't really care what your reasons are, but be assured that I, and probably the vast majority of Western women here, neither need nor want have those reasons spelled out for us when it results in disparaging comments about Western females. I do not care to read these ridiculous diatribes about how Western women are "lesser than" on a continual basis. It is not necessary to degrade the entire Western female population just because you have had some negative experiences in the past with Western women. Grow up and get over it.
"To each his own." I don't give a rat's behind whom you date. I really don't. However, I don't come to this site to read about how inferior I am to Asian women. I don't come here to feel bad about myself, and that is what these comments do. Don't yap at us about being "jealous", "ugly", "catty", or "bitter". Instead, just think for a moment why we Western women are on the defensive when we read your nasty stereotypes of us. Just think.

Hey Capegirl!
What thread is this coming from? Or is this just in general? I haven't seen those comment for a few months now. I think it was from the "Where are the best women?" thread. |

Interesting point. You've brought up what is possibly the greatest deception of "our" culture: the so called "freedom of choice."
"If you don't like it don't bother with it." So the saying goes. The fact of the matter is, this is much more difficult to do than it sounds. Take our present example. Capegirl is an EFL teacher. EFL is a famously haphazard industry, with little in the way of regulations, confrences, professional associations, respect, or even reliable information. So she comes to internet forums like this one - as there are few alternatives for networking with EFL teachers. And she can't help but notice what is in the above complaint.
She doesn't have to give every post on above mentioned touchy topic a thorough academic review. A glimpse at topic titles is often enough. So her "choice" really is either a) put up with an attitude that is really no longer considered acceptable in real life situations or b) never come here and miss out on everything that can be learned.
I sympathize with CG. I was nearly flamed on the China forum for NOT being a "player" (as far as I can tell. ) But, on the other hand, I don't think that her post will change any attitudes as azarashi sushi has demonstrated.
However, it is an interesting topic. |

Well, my rant is about little comments I read here and there, not any particular thread (although there have been some in recent months that were way over the top on this subject). Most of the time, I just roll my eyes when I read these kinds of remarks, but at the same time, I am reminded of similar comments debasing Western women in prior "discussions". As I said, I don't care whom the Western guys on this web board date. I just don't get why they always have to make unflattering comparisons to Western females in their remarks. Perhaps I just need a break from the board for a while.
In any case, here are the comments I was reading earlier on the China Job-Related Forum prior to posting this thread:

As a general observation, the Chinese women (girls) are far more attractive than western women. |

several months ago I met an American man, mid thirties, just beginning his contract at one of the "better" universities in Shanghai. the usual airport chit-chat. and he talked about his girl friend. how really nice she was, a great cook, super good looking, etc. I asked where she was - ah, in the states finishing up her MBA. finally I had to ask - is she Asian? he gave me the strangest look and said, "NO! She is Italian American. I met her in Chicago."
"But," say I. "You speak Cantonize and Mandarin - and you want to live in China for a long period of time-right? And she is coming over here to China when her degree is finished. Sorry, I assumed you were with an Asian female."
His answer blew me away. And maybe will sooth some of us Western women egos on this foum. It did mine.

Capergirl--
You are awesome!! Thank you for speaking up.
And as to the argument that if one does not wish to read certain comments, one should avoid certain threads--unless there is a title like "Asian women are far superior in every way to Western women," there really is no way to tell where the thread will go. The only way to find out is to read it, and by then, of course, it's too late.

Its a fact of being out here that the boot is squarely on the other foot for western women ....at least you know what your own medicine tastes like now. |

I don't mean to be thick, but what exactly are you saying? That we do the same to Western men back home? Can you clarify or give an example?

Well, "the shoe is on the other foot" implies a role reversal. Meaning that western women spend their time comparing western men unfavorably to Asian men. The second idiom, "taste of one's own medicine," confirms this.
I don't remember ever being compared unfavorably to asain men while living in Canada. I'm certain that it isn't true. But you say it is true. . . .
Aha, I have it!
You're saying that you like Jacques Derrida! You sly deconstructionist, you.

If the above is wrong, then I'm either thick, not psychic, or both. |

Why the *beep* do people have to use those annoying quote boxes all the bloody time...
Lets look at it from another angle, Asian women dont have their heads up their arses like western women do and feminist crap doesnt get one very far out here. |

Two wee things... one, thank you Caper Girl, for saying what I have been aching to say for months. It neednt be a full on topic on Why Asian Girls are Hot and All Western Girls are FemiNazi Slappers to attract moronic comments from guys who are shockingly narrow in their perception of women. There are snipes and jibes and nasty comments all over the board. They are not fun to read. The disrespect is wholly uncalled for.
And two, why are so many men here so angry at 'western' women???? The men in my life (in various countries) over the years are happy, kind, intelligent individuals. They don't see me as a foe, as a conquest, or as a dominatrix or otherwise. Being Canadian does not make me a trollop or a b-i-t-c-h or fat or ugly or whatever it is y'all think every single non Asian woman is. I pity the men with such a limited vision. There are good men and good women everywhere... |
