Hi,
I am an Aussie bloke heading over to Costa Rica in September looking to teach English. I will be travelling with a mate of mine and at the moment we are trying to decide whether to rent an apartment or go with a home stay. I would love to hear about some of your experiences in home stays and apartments, and which you would advise is a better option for non Spanish speakers.

Do you want to learn Spanish? A good way is a homestay. You can get really nice apartments with two bedrooms, though. |

i would strongly suggest a homestay to begin with. Its a great way to have the problems of shopping ,cooking, laundry etc, eliminated at least for the first week or month.
It gives you time to get to know the different areas and get a feel for where you want to live or settle.
It also allows you time to check out the job possibilites and then get a place close to your work.
check out my other emails for information about a great homestay in Heredia. Quite a few people from this site have stayed there and i believe all have had a good experience.
good luck

Hi,
My boyfriend and I are planning to arrive in Costa Rica in November of this year to find jobs teaching English. We have read some of the posts on homestays and they seem like a good option for saving money and also an excellent way to learn more about the culture. We were wondering though, are homestays suitable for couples? Will some of the rooms and beds be big enough for a couple?
Thank you for any advice!
