I awoke from a nap in my living room last night to a spider on the wall not far from me. This spider was about the size of a common house spider in the UK i.e. larger than I like (maybe 5 cm diameter).
My husband insisted I was dreaming and his inspection of the room yielded two spiders, a small one behind the clock and a medium one (2cm) under the sofa. He says larger spiders are unknown in Turkey.
I know what I saw however, and despite the sometimes stressful situations I find myself in here I am not reduced to hallucinating yet!
Has anyone else spotted larger arachnids here (I know UK house spiders are small to people from the US and Aus but the Brits will know what I mean)? This spider seemed to have particularly knobbly knees - not an attractive feature. |

Thanks King Tubby, you found it before I did (the old avatar) really appreciate it.
Ha ha my husband didn't know what to say about that juicy spider! |

yes we do get bigguns here. when i was teaching my soon to be husband's cousin's daughter there was a massive 5 cm one in the room. now i was never afraid of spiders before but i've leartn that the ones here bite in a very nasty way so i stamped on it. bad Karma perhaps, but better than a bite. |
