I just received an Email from Al Itihad National School in Al Ain. Does anyone have any information or advice about this school? I read that Al Ain is not an exciting place to live. How much should I expect as far as a salary? I have a M.Ed in Special Education and Early childhood education is my specialty. What would a good package be? Flight, medical ins, 2 bedroom apt, education allowance?
Thanks LG |

Al Itihad is not often one of the higher paying schools in the UAE. Some of my former colleagues worked with them in recent years. They used to offer just enough money to rent a studio in Bur Dubai, which was particularly low allowance given the real estate climate, even a couple a years ago.
I normally steer people who have experience but perhaps no degree toward Itihad because they've been known to sometimes hire people in that category. I can't say the reports about the way it's run are bad or good-just average. Sorry that's not more specific. Let me ask around and get back to you, lattegirl. |

Stoth,
AlItihad wants single teachers only. So I waited up for their phone call and nothing! So I checked my Email and they wrote that their ad is for single teachers. The funny thing is that I never responded to their ad! They contacted me! Oh well, I am sure it's for the best.
Now here is the kicker.... I receive 2 more emails today fom a different school in the UAE about the same job in Sharjah. The benifits were the same except for salary...The first salary was 6,500 AED and the second Email said 7000. AED. What the heck! I'm at the point where I am sending up the white flag. I guess it's business as usual in the UAE. I am sure tht the other Arab countries are the same.
Thanks Stoth,

That's true-I forgot you had kids. It wouldn't be bad if your spouse was working in the UAE, though.

Mmm...if you want to PM me the info about the schools rather that post it, go for it. If you have a K-12 teaching qualification, those salaries are a bit low. |
