|
|
I took a teaching/faculty job in UAE earlier this year and I was supposed to start this August (a month from now). But for personal reasons, now I cannot leave my home country and unfortunately have to quit the job without having started yet.
I wrote them (the university) an email about this, but did not get a reply yet (it's been almost a week). According to the contract that I've signed both parties can cancel the agreement within the 6 months of emloyment (though I haven't started yet). Other than this there is no other clause regarding cancelling the agreement before employment starts.
I know it's not professional on my behalf, but I am a bit concerned by their no response. Any potential legal issues? I am a bit nervous.
Please let me know.. |

This happens all the time and there is nothing that they can do to you other than not hire you if you ever apply again.
If your email isn't answered, you might want to fax and mail off duplicates of your declining the job.
