|
|
I would liek to visit and enjoy Thailand for 3-4 weeks in October and need some advice.
I know the country is big, so where to go is my delima. My SUP just got back from Chiang Mai but he loved Bangkok better....
Here are some of my objectives:
I want to sleep, workout daily ( wieght lifting gym), shop, visit some colleges,Universities and NGO's.
While Bangkok is probably amazing from what my SUP said, more than a few days there and I would be burned out.
What I prefer is more of a small to meduim sized town or city ( could be 20-30 minutes from a major large city) with access to the things that I mentioned above. I lived in the West Indies in the past and enjoy some of the tropical elements, such as the green lush topagraphy, fresh fish, fruits and vegatables and that laid back Island vibe that the locals have.
TED KARMA, Chime off, I would love to hear what you would suggest?
Looking forward to any advice-Thanks
PS. For any one who likes Reggea and Roots, here is an interesting place I found near Bankgok.

Sorry 'bout that mate - I don't get out of Bangkok much.
If you have any questions related to Bangkok ... fire away!
In the meantime, you might want to look around here.
If I had 2 weeks to blow, I'd head for Phuket and
some of the smaller islands in the Andaman.
Railay Beach, for example. |

Uh . . . life gets busy and many of us don't come here every day!
Anyway - if your goal is to visit NGOs, universities and to shop - Bangkok is probably the place to be.
But, if you want to kick back a bit - that is a different story. A good gym - or at least one that has A/C when it is super hot and humid - will require that you be in a decent sized city.
Phuket has lots of little towns away from the tourist areas - but you may not find a good gym there - nor on any of the smaller islands - nor anywhere that is away from it all.
However - your 20-30 minutes commute criteria - meets the standard for Kamala, Surin, Bang Tao and lots of other places on Phuket.
Take a look at www.PhuketGoldCoast.com for good info on those areas.
Besides - I think you owe me a beer! Come on down and pay up!
We'll sit on the beach and chat a bit. Don't worry, I'll get the second round . . . and fourth, and sixth . . . |
