I've foolishly become the intermediary in an Ebay set up. Tomorrow I have to go to the post office and send off some ridiculous Harajuku girl dress to somewhere in America and it needs to use tracking. The problem is I have no idea how to ask for "tracking" at the post office. I've never mailed anything with tracking before so I probably wouldn't even be able to do it in Canada. Oops I see as well that I need insurance on the thing. Goddammit I never should have agreed to this. So how do I ask for tracking and insurance on a parcel? |

Postal services rarely ever use tracking numbers. Courier companies do, however. Find out which courier companies ship internationally. |

Utter rubbish. :)
Most post offices offer tracking services. Heck, even the US postal service does - and hat's hardly a first world service
In Japan it's EMS, which is a courier service under a nother name. You can add tracking for parcel post too, although I can't for the life of me remember what the name is in that case. It's on the Japan Post website in English somewhere. |

Well that was easier than expected. I went in there and asked for one of their "bag parcels" (what the heck are those things anyways?) and she asked me where I was sending it to. I said America and she handed me one of those things to fill out (for customs) and it said EMS right on the top. It was also insured up to $20,000 yen as well. So all's well that ends well. |

Just had the bloke from the post office knock on the door and give me an EMS information pack. Told me he thought it might be something I'd be interested in and explained a little about it. Looks like a great service.
Anyway, see for yourself

I had no idea that there were International fast-delivery services (other than the post office) available in English here. Those are most useful links. Thanks! |
