Me and the missus landed in Kaohsiung yesterday. Top of my list of things to do in the job search was to get a mobile phone and a contact number for prospective employers. The handset seems to be no problem to get hold of but when we went to the Myphone store to get a sim card they wouldn't give us one unless we had an ARC or a letter from the Taiwan government. All we wanted was a Pay As You Go account. This is like that stupid Whitesnake song.
"cant get a girl cos i cant get a car, cant get a car cos i cant get a job......"
Or is that Def Lepperd? Whatever.
There must be a way around this. What can we do? |

Get someone that has an ARC to help you, try your passport, that is what I used. |

I've tried getting my Taiwanese friend to go for me but they told him they were going to discontinue pre-paid accounts and tried to get him the sing a contract. Can anyone out there with an ARC help me out? There is a reward available. |

oh you just need a sim card?, 7-11 used to sell them, ask around where to get them if they dont anymore...sounds like you just got a bad store, try until you get one that will sell you one...maybe that place didnt sell sim cards and wanted you on a plan, and there is no way they are getting rid of pre-paid cards.... |
