Hello everyone,
This coming spring I will finish a master's degree in education (not an ESL degree-I study social justice education). A few years ago I lived and taught in D.F. I loved it of course and am dreaming about a return (maybe to D.F. maybe somewhere else in Mexico). I had luck with jobs when I was there, but without training or experience I was definitely teaching at the entry-level.
My question is this: will my master's degree allow me to get jobs that I wasn't able to get before? Will I be able to teach ESL at the university level? Or in private prepas? What could I do to enter the higher paying job market?
Thanks for everything. The collective knowledge here is delightful.

Christopher,
A Masters degree will certainly help. People will argue you need a TEFL certificate in addition but I don't think this is always true. I was accepted to teach at a university with an MBA and some teaching experience here. I will soon take my TKT for certification from a testing center in Mexico, just to add to my credibility.
Good luck. |
