Does it only take 10 days to recieve the new passport.
Do they cancel the old passport the same day you apply for the new one?
What happens if I need to travel before getting the new passport?
And is it form DS-82 that needs to be filled out. Thanks for the help.
Thanks

If you haven't done this yet, go to the website and try to fill in the online form. It may or may not allow you to do it. The site is confusing and at times seems to be contradictory. It's not that you are making mistakes. The whole site needs to be redone. Make an appointment and go the to the Consulate. You can definately fill out the forms there. I think it takes more than 10 days. The last time I renewed I was told that because the new passports are digitized, whatever that means, they are not actually made in Hong Kong. The good news is you don't have to go back to the Consulate to collect the passport. It is mailed to you. Your old passport will be canceled when you apply for the new one, and you cannot travel till you get the new one. Hope this is helpful. |
