Ive been here for one year and Im enjoying life in Spain. Ive also been teahcing for a few years. However, if I want to stay in Spain, I cannot live on peanuts and spend my life running around on the Metro and living in a shoebox. If I do an MA in TESOL part time and get my Spanish to a certain level, what are the chances of moving up the career ladder here in Madrid |

In addition to qualifications and language skills, you'll likely also need contacts. I think one idea might be to visit any universities or international schools you might be interested in, and see if you can arrange very brief meetings with directors in the language departments. You could explain your situation, your aspirations, and what you're willing to do to reach them. Ask them what kinds of quals would help you move up the ladder. It's a chance to start meeting some people (and hopefully impressing them favorably) while you get really relevant info. |
