| Does anyone know what the most widely accepted onine certificate is? Or is it completely dependent upon the country you're applying to? Thanks. |

Schools in many countries don't recognize online certifications because they don't include practice teaching. The ideal route is to take an on-site course in the country you want to teach in (at least, in most cases).
Where do you want to go?
Ask on the country forums for more specific info. |

| Yeah I know. I already asked in the Turkey forum. I was just wondering if there was one or two universally recognized ones. |

| No. Because they don't include teaching practice. |

| Friend did an on line one last year in the summer-it took 6 weeks. To be honest, in Kuwait they looked at the certificate and that was it- she has had a couple of jobs since and a full time overseas hire one from september. It depends where you go I think. |

| I did one that wasn't online, and is the most common one in Canada but does not include teaching, and it was accepted just fine. I got the impression that they didn't really care, so long as it was some sort of certificate. I'm asking about the online ones for a friend on a budget. |

The online one my friend did was really quite hard and altho I did my Diploma (full year long university course) I read it and found it tough going which made me have a bit of respect for it!

The more selective schools will want the observed teaching practice as part of the course, unless you have other qualifications and/or experience.
While Kuwait might have accepted one, I had a distance PGCE thrown out by a quality school in Saudi Arabia. Got the job based on other similar qualifications, but they pretty much laughed at the distance course. And it was not easy task either. |

| I know-you even have raised eyebrows at university ones-mine was 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, micro teaching , TP in UK teaching a foreign language, TP in Madrid + dissertation and people still used to say 'Oh is it Trinity approved'.....P*** off!!!And in the end I had to get a letter from the uni saying that it went beyond the Trinity! |
