I will be moving to Prague soon and wondering what is the best and easiest way to get from the airport to a hostel located in Prague 8. There are 2 of us and we will be bringing lots of luggage. Any advice on how we should go about our transportation? Thanks!

You're probably going to need a taxi, because otherwise you're looking at bus/metro/tram transfers, at least two or three depending on your exact destination.

However, beware of taxi ripoffs!

Your best option is to go to the AAA taxi kiosk INSIDE the airport. I think it's located in terminal 'sever,' arrivals. This is the terminal you enter if you're coming from an EU country. If you come into the other terminal, follow the signs to 'sever' and you'll see the AAA kiosk somewhere on your left, if I recall. Ask them to arrange for a pickup for you.

Don't go to a taxi waiting on the street. They're known for overcharging drastically.

I am not sure whether AAA drivers will accept euro or any currency other than czech koruny. You may need to go to a bankomat in the airport and withdraw some cash before you make taxi arrangements.

If you decide to go the public transit route, you'll need to buy transit tickets also inside the airport. The bus from airport to Dejvicka metro is notorious as a forum for the transit police to grab tourists and slap them with fines for not having stamped tickets. You can't buy tickets on the bus - you have to get them in advance.

When we came to Prague a month ago, we pre-booked a ride from the airport with a company called Prague Airport Shuttle. They were really great. The driver was an American who spoke English, and he gave us some tips about the city. You can book them online, and they'll be waiting for you when your flight arrives. They say they'll come even if your flight is delayed, but we were on time so I don't know if that's true. It costs 600 Kc to anywhere in Prague, which is probably more than you'll pay for a taxi, but if you've got a lot of luggage and want a guaranteed ride, I'd definitely recommend them. I think their website is prague-airport-shuttle.com, or something like that.
