Do you have to foot the bill for installing air condioning in villas? This is what I've heard but my sources may be dubious. Thanks.

Is your accomodation provided by your employer? If so, they usually ensure that AC is already in place before a lease is signed. If you have to search out your own villa, then make sure that the AC installation and upkeep/maintenance is included in the contract.

The vast majority of EFL teachers are assigned to flats rather than villas in most of the Emirates. (married management is more likely to be assigned a villa) If you choose to make the upgrade yourself to a villa and take a housing allowance, you will be responsible for making any changes to the villa that you locate on your own. In this time of rapidly rising rents, it may not a good idea to go outside the system of college provided housing.

The air conditioners should be there, but you will have to pay the bills. Split units are usually the most economical.
