I'll check at my local drugstore this afternoon and reply here this evening.

I get Tramadol over the counter, so my hunch is 'yes'

... but probably under a generic Thai brand name.

stay tuned

My hunch was wrong. I checked 3 pharmacies today, and all 3 said the same thing: Zopiclone and Diazepam are available only from a doctor. At the corner drugstore where I normally go, the pharmacist suggested Polytanol, which contains amitriptyline hydrochloride. They come in 25mg tablets and cost 1 Baht per tablet. When I googled it, I got this: Amitriptyline hydrochloride is a potent antidrepressant with sedative properties.

Another recommendation from a different pharmacy: hydroxyzine dihydrochloride - in 25mg tablets, 75 Baht for a box of 25.

You could also try my personal home remedy: 2 bottles of Chang Beer right before bedtime.
