|
|
I have just received my Employment License and Invitation Letter from my School in China and they have told me that this is all i should need to go to the Embassy and get my Z Visa. However, it appears to me that many people are being informed they need to have a Medical caried out before the embassy will issue the Z Visa. Can anyone advise me on what is the correct course of action? |

Since nothing seems to ever be consistent...
Ask the embassy that is going to issue your visa - so you meet THEIR requirements |

Which embassy do you intend to apply for the visa?
Usually the answer is no, however different embassies/consulates have different rules. If I were you I would go to your closest embassy/consulate and apply for the Z visa with the documents that already have. If they ask for a medical, then you will need to supply one. Chances are they will not ask for anything besides what you already have. |

I intend on going to the consulate in Edinburgh. I think it should be fine. My employer has told me that the documentation they have sent should be sufficient. |

You should only need the medical certificate in order to get the work permit and invitation letter. So, if you have already obtained these without getting the medical you should be OK.
I have just got my Z visa from the Embassy in London and they didn't ask to see the medical certificate. They were only interested in the work permit and invitation letter.
Good luck |

I went there and they asked for the medical examination form. I said 'screw that, I am not paying 150 to do it in the UK', went to London and they did not ask for it.
In the official website, it does not state it as a requirement. |

As I said, you should simple ask the embassy/consulate you plan on going to whether you need to medical exam certificate or not ... it takes a couple days to get the results from the exam - so you can't just do it in a few minutes should they tell you that you need it ...
When I first came to China my local Chinese consulate DID require a physical exam certificate - not just a statement from a doctor that I was in good health - then when I arrived in China the local PSB required another exam done IN CHINA to get my A
Just make the call to the embassy/consulate and save yourself the time and hassle ... it matters not in the least how it worked for other people |

It has been confirmed that I need a physical in order to get my Visa processed. The Edinburgh Consulate gave me the paperwork required and sent me on my way. I took it to a Doctor to have a look at and they could not make head or tale of it. It will also take me approximately one and a half months at the least to get the medical done on the NHS and even then it will cost in the region of two hundred pounds. As a result I have got in touch with some private clinics and they will be getting back to me tomorrow with details of how much it will cost to go private, should my employers be gracious enough to fund it. |

Why not do what u24tc did and just go to London where they didn't ask him for a medical? |

That would be an option but going by peoples experiences at Chinese Embassies and Consulates in the UK and around the world there appears to be no set rule in place. So do I fork out the money to go down to London from Scotland and risk it potentially loosing more time or do I sit tight here and see if I can get the ball rolling with the medical. It really is a tough call but I'm going to wait and see what my employer thinks first about the situation and take it from there. Fingers Crossed! |

Look, your employer has already done everything they can for you to get your Z visa by sending you to documents. What the consulate or embassy wants is beyond their control. I am not asking you to listen tob the experience or someone in Timbuktu. Why on earth would you think that the London office will ask you to submit a medical when they didn't ask someone else to submit one? Have you tried e-mailing them or calling them? |

Did my visa application (Z) throught the consulate in Manchester - no requirement for a medical. Incidentally, I wasn't required to have a medical in China until my visa came up for renewal - one year later. |

Sorry to add another potential problem, but when I did mine (outside the UK) I was told it could only be at a government hospital - not allowed to be a private one. So you need to check that too, if you are doing it in Edinburgh.
I would phone around the Embassies in the UK and travel to the nearest one which does not require a medical! |

You could always go to Hong Kong and apply for the z visa there. No medical required. |
