alo!
I've been reading that women smoking cigarettes is widely frowned upon in Thailand. When I visited as a tourist last year, I had heard this but didn't feel particularly alienated when I lit up. However now that I'm considering teaching ESL, I'm worried that my little addiction will be a serious problem with employers - can I sneak in a smoke with my lunch break without facing scorn and admonishment from the school / students? Or is now the perfect time to quit?
(please don't remind me how bad a habit it is, i know!) |

You are a foreigner - so you get more slack.
I have a female teacher friend - who smokes. Not a big problem. I suspect the school doesn't like it a lot - but considering she just got promoted to a supervisory position, I suspect it doesn't bother them too much. |
