Hi all, some suggestions would be welcome- have signed a contract with Chouefait which requires a move to Khalifa city. Trying to research the place but not a lot of info is showing up? should I stay or should I go? |

I assume that you have read the stories on here about your new employer? If you haven't, I suggest spending an hour or so doing just that so you know what you are getting into.
I'm not personally familiar with Khalifa City, but I see you have found the other thread.

I can tell you Khalifa City sucks.
First of all, getting a taxi out there is next to impossible. Lots of people get the numbers of good drivers who know the way to the villas, but they usually expect between 30 and 50 dirham to come get you and drive you to the city.
Next, there are no landmarks in Khalifa City to get you home, and the streets are numbered in no particular order. So its not easy to give directions to anyone to come get you either. There are no buses, and in the heat it's hard to walk to the main road to catch a taxi. Your neighbours would have been a bunch of pakistani contstruction workers which make the place a little unsettling to be out at night. No real reason to be out though, there is no where to go, just the odd litte store that is too far to walk to in the heat.
That being said, I think it's going to be a remarkably different place in ten years, and night even be preferrable to the city. If only there was a bus!!!
if you are at all still interested in seeing Khalifa City A, you can google earth it.
Good job not to take the job. |
