Sorry if this has already been answered. I tried searching for the answer with the "Site Search" field at the top of the page, but it didn't turn up any useful results.
Does anyone know if there is an English teaching scene in Mongolia? If so, what is generally required (in other words, is it okay not to have a bachelor's degree)?
I'm not actually seriously thinking about doing it, I'm just curious. I am not talking about Inner Mongolia in China -- I am well aware that there are jobs there.
Since Mongolia's GDP per capita is higher than Vietnam's (where there are plenty of jobs) and since I know some Mongolians living here in Korea who speak English, it seems there are English teachers in Mongolia -- however, I have not seen a forum for them, nor have I seen or heard a discussion of teaching in Mongolia. |

There was an advert some years back. You got $100 a month, board, lodging, and free internet access. You also got a free fur coat provided on arrival at the airport.
I had a colleague who is married to a Mongolian, and worked there for some time. I think he was VSO though. |

Thank you, Stephen Jones and william wallace, for that information. William wallace, what do you mean by "certified teacher?" I have CELTA, but in my own country, this alone would not be considered a "certified teacher" -- I have no BA. |

When yanks say certified teacher they mean what Britons mean when they say 'qualified teacher', i.e. holder of a B.Ed or a PGCE (post graduate certificate of education) and hence qualified to teach in normal western schools. |
