I need some advice as to where I possibly stand.
Recently I started to work for Shane English School. Only for one month have I worked there.
My problem is, I need to take leave for personal reasons. Does anyone know if schools, or Shane inparticular allow such leave?
I really don't want to lose my job. I actually really enjoy working for Shane and want to continue to do so in the future.
But right now I need to go back to the U.K for a week or so to clear my head.
Any advice will be much appreciated. |

I stopped working for Shane ove five years ago, so my infomation might be out of date, but they did have an unpaid leave system. When the DoS explained it to me, he gave such reasons as brother's weddings as examples of why it might be given. However, it was not normally allowed for first year teachers. Anyway, I understand they now let teachers choose when they want some of their leave, although as you have only been there for a month it might not apply to you yet.
It probably isn't that much of a headache for them to arrange cover for you. They have likely had people just deciding they've had enough and upping and leaving in the past, and may well assume you are going to do just that. If you have a genuine reason for going back for a few days, I suggest you just explain it to your managers. If they don't think it's genuine, they won't be able to stop you going back if you want to but there might be problems with picking up the job again afterwards. That said, when I was there people who felt as positively as you seem to about Shane were rare indeed, so I could be wrong.
Without knowing why you want to go back (and I quite understand why you might not want to post it on here) I don't think anyone can give you any definite answers, so I suggest going to talk to your DoS |
