Anybody have any experience with some of those smaller, lesser-known outfits in Bakirkoy? I was out for a walk down that way, asked for info at a couple of booths, and they were all over me. They really turned on the charm, but appearances are of course not always to be trusted. |

I interviewed at American Academy - it is a Callan Method school founded by the group that started Active English next to Sirinevler ET. They would not quote me an hourly wage - saying that what you make depends on the hours worked (duh). They did ask me if I was interested, and I told them I would get back to them. I did - to tell them thanks for their time. My email bounced back to me even though I tried a number of different variations of it.
The interviewer was young and very friendly. Maybe the wages are quite good, I don't know.
I have heard that Dialogue is also a Callan School. I don't know for sure, though. I have seen the others that you mentioned but I have not been in there. I stopped by Discover, and it seems to be worse for wear but I never did speak to anyone in there. |

Amercian Kultur Academy?
If so, they pay $1500 a month. As far as l know, you have to be there 6 days a week (Mon to Sat) from 1pm until 9.40pm. You may only teach 3 or 4 hours a day, but you have to be in the branch or at least close by.
All the above is for the Maltepe branch, it may be different else where. |
