I had problems finding good info on which school I should choose to learn Spanish in when I first came here in 2002. I've studied in 4 different ones.

First, High Technology in Learning. Great environment, friendly people, over priced and without grammar.

Second, La Universidad Los Andes, all grammar and vocab with little else and expensive.

Third, La Universidad Nacional, great program, economical, too many protests with pepper gas but don't be scared to go there it's not the danger zone most people think it is.

Finally La Universidad Javeriana, 1/3 the price of HTL and Los Andes but by far the best program that I've tried. They cover all the bases from grammar and conversation to culture and slang. It was the last place I studied but it should have been the first.

If you're going to study here bring a verb conjugation book. I brought the 501 book but a friend from Canada brought a 515 verbs or 550 verbs book. The difference other than the numbers of verbs is that hers had really understandable definitions of the verb tenses. I also brought a Franklin electronic translator which I wore out but was invaluable.

Hope this helps.

Did you just go to admissions and inquire about classes in spanish? How many students in the class? What type of costs? Thanks. How about housing? Any suggestions? Thanks.
