I'm fairly sure there are a couple of threads relating to this august place of learning - try doing a thread search.
(I would, but I'm back at work and in a p.issed off mood)

more than that. I did a quick search and got 8 pages worth. You'll have to sift through all (our) bollocks to find what you want Twisted Evil Wink

If you compare Wall Street Institute to English Time, which one would you say is crappier? And how do you do a thread search about a particular subject? Do I go back to old pages one by one, read the subject heading of each and hope to find something about WSI? Or is there a short cut such as typing a key word and finding the relevant threads? Btw, if I wanted to post a picture here, how could I do that? Is there a thread on that subject as well?

If you look at the top of the page you'll see the search function.

To post a photo click the img button up there^ put the url address of the photo in and click img button again. You can't post photos straight from your computer. must be on photobucket, google image or something similar.

Her is advice about avatars and photos from

http://www.eltworld.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10

FAQ1 - add an avatar to your profile

FAQ2 - post a photograph (scroll down)

FAQ1 How do I add an avatar to my Profile?

At the top of the forum you'll see some blue links

including: FAQ, Search, Memberlist, Usergroups, etc.

Click on Profile and scroll all the way down to the bottom

where you'll see a box and the words 'Link to off-site Avatar'.

Copy/paste the URL of your image into that box and click Submit.

It's really that simple ---> unless the image you're using is really big.

Google Image Search allows you to narrow your search to smaller pics,

so that's a good place to browse around for a smaller, avatar-sized image.

If you already have a photo saved on your 'puter (or a photo that's too large)

go to Photobucket.com and register --> it's a free photo-sharing website.

With Photobucket, you can store, edit & hot-link photos & graphics.

You can also reduce the size of a photo with a simple click.

If you go with Photobucket, here's a 3-step tutorial:

Step 1

When you've finally located the photo you want to use,

right click on it and save as - this will download

the image onto your computer's hard drive.

Step 2

Log into your new Photobucket account.

At the top of the page, you'll see the word Browse.

Click on that, which will open a new window on your monitor

and show you the contents of your hard drive ---> and hopefully

the image(s) you just downloaded. Click once on your image.

This will highlite the image. Now click on Open.

This moves the image over to Photobucket.

Now click on Upload and wait a sec ...

Your image is now stored on Photobucket.

Step 3

Under each image on Photobucket you'll see 4 URLs.

Copy/paste the Direct Link into your Profile here at Dave's,

click the Submit icon at the bottom of the page and you're all done.

FAQ2 How do I post a photo or graphic within the body of a post?

If you're using Photobucket, copy/paste the IMG Code URL into your post and click Submit.

You can also do it manually as follows with no spaces.

Be careful that the comes at the end.

In plain English, you 'sandwich' the address of the image between the symbols.

If I were to close up the 2 spaces in the URL below, you'd see the photo --- instead of the long URL.

Posting smileys works the same way:

note:

In addition to Photobucket, you can also use ImageShack.

Both services offer free storage and hot-linking;

the key to an avatar's longevity.

Thanks to Kent for this info

It's about the money -- At least, it was for me when I interviewed with Wall Street back in 2003. The "teaching" seemed to entail far less work and stress than at English Time, but the pay was meager in comparison (even though it was salary, as opposed to hourly). A new teacher without experience would undoubtedly feel more at ease starting out at Wall Street. It would be interesting to know whether the pay has improved...

In the end, I re-signed with ET. However, I had a couple of friends at Wall Street who were happy with the job, one of whom worked his way quite high up in management.

For me, the Wall Street agent put the last nail in his firm's coffin, so to speak, in his reply to this question:

ME: "Er, I'm a little worried about references. You'll have to contact my ex-boss back in Athens. Greek you know..."

WALL STREET AGENT: "OH, references.... Hahaha, I dont think anybody will care very much about references. In fact, I dont give a sxhxixtx about all those qualifications and stuff, CELTAS and DELTAS and fxuxcxkx knows what. If you got some experience we'll give you a job."

Which just about says it all. Cowboy company for flybynight TEFLers
