Why does the job situation suck in Kansai? The other teachers I've met from other parts of the country seem to know this as fact. |

well, the economy in Osaka is worse. Tokyo is where the money is.
I think in Osaka people have less money to spend, so learning English is a luxury for some. Tokyo people have more money to spend, so they can afford to go to an English school.
I wish the job situation was better in Kansai. My wife wants to go back to live there. |

I'll be working in the Kansai area this December. So I guess you just need to apply to the right places? |

both, businesses and individuals. My wife's family works there so I can talk to them so I know how it is.
There are jobs there, but I find that generally pay is less than in Tokyo.
I think in Osaka it is more important to have contacts. You have to pay your dues, meet people, and then try to move on to better paying jobs. |

I know that for the company I work for Kansai has the highest renewal rate of employees of anywhere in Japan. People who get a job in kansai tend to spend more time here than those who work in Tokyo.
Personally I really enjoy Kansai. Though all the Kansai-ben sometimes makes learning Japanese a bit more difficult.
keep looking and you'll come across something. I mean there are millions of people living here. |
