For those living in Japan, what's your assessment on China?
Japan ESL teachers seem generally to want to be in Japan (in my opinion). So I doubt if they'd have the interest or desire to ESL teach in China. But curious what the general assessment is on it.
When I view China ESL boards, they are looking for all over the place. But I don't notice Japan ESL teachers much interested in elsewhere. |

We had friends who worked in China as English teachers and when they first got there they hated it (it is SO different from the US) but by the time they left they were raving about it.
Well they came to Japan (they had been home for a year) on their way to China (to visit us) so they were able to see the two back to back, and they realized that maybe they might love Japan more than China. They couldnt get over how clean Japan was and how happy the people seemed to be compared to the Chinese. They couldnt believe that there were actual houses in Japan and that there was food that was imported from the states.
I think if they went to go back to teach English then they would come here, they were able to save $5000 in china over one year (which is really good for china) but they almost fainted when I told them that here with two people working you should be able to save $30,000 in one year...
So I think it would be cool to visit China because of the cheap fruit and cheap things but outside of that I cant imagine living there...my friends would agree that Japan is a lot better. |
