I have been debating about bringing my chihuahua with us when we move to Santiago. I was just wondering if this would be more hassle than it is worth. Would it be hard to find an apartment that allows dogs? When we travel would it be possible to find a boarding facility? When we travel outside Santiago would buses allow me to bring my dog? Thank you for any information to help me make the decision to bring her or not. |

I have two cats in my apartment and havent had any problem with them so far, however most people dont mention their pets when they apply to rent a place. As for boarding kennels when you want to travel - I only know of a couple and they are awful. When we travel we usually find somebody reliable to "catsit" in our apartment and pay them to either spend the whole weekend or come in and feed and play with the cats for a couple of hours. Chileans in general arent all that animal friendly and I think you may have some problems trying to take your dog on long-haul busses etc. I for one have never seen anyone do that. Hope that helps. |

There is an amazing kennel that we just found last weekend....it is run by a Dutch woman and her husband.
www.eltulipan.cl
But they're located about 25 km north of Santiago, so you need a car to get there....but it is really really nice, nothing like any of the places in Santiago. |
