whats the deal with them anyway??... i know that they are currently not showing any premier league games because astro has the sole rights to that, but will that be changing anytime shortly? ....basically i need to know if i should bother going through the hassle of signing up with astro and cancelling my indovision and embarking on what will no doubt be an endless quest to get my deposit back...although it is cool that you don't need a deposit with astro.....well, i guess its not that cool.

Does the quality of the reception with Indovision vary much from region to region? I'm in Jakarta and last week I couldn't get a signal meaning that I had to resort to local Indonesian television programming.

paul..... to be honest i find it very hard to understand your pointless reply to my post...if it really was that empty, then it speaks volumes of how mundane your life must be for you to waste your time replying to it. you ask me "don't you have more pressing problems?"....no, i don't , my life is great....except ofcourse for the fact that i can't watch english football on my current cable provider..

and a little tip for you..... if you're not interested in a particular thread, don't bother posting on it...chin up young man, save up some rupiahs every month and soon you and your roomates will be able to afford cable tv too!!!!

Yes Paul, I don't know how long you have lived in Jakarta but cable tv becomes very important after a while. While not being a soccer fan myself, I would go stir crazy without sports from my part of the world and also news and current affairs from abroad. Indonesian tv is about the worst any country can dish up.
And treacle to answer your question, sometimes the reception is terrible. I watched the Aussie news the other day and it became like a polkadot quilt then went off. Also there is a so called eclipse season which cuts in late in the evening for about 2 - 3 hours with blackouts. Cablevision was much better when I had it previously, unfortunately it is not available where I live now.
Beefer, I doubt you will get your deposit back, Indonesian business generally has a no refund policy and if they do you will fight for months to get it.

Beefer... Another riveting response... "Chin up young man" .... where do you get all those wonderful comebacks...? Amazing....

I might agree with you that cable is important to a person like you who spends most of his time at home. I guess I should apologize for my insensitve "empty" post. Sorry "mate"

Being from Canada I have never picked up on the love of "soccer".... seems a bit boring kicking the ball back and forth... and the GREAT games of 0 0... Wow! Exciting...

Cheers "mate"

btw... you better make the move to Astro quick, so that your "exciting" life will be back to normal! Laughing

paul, paul, paul... i must say, the other day i was a bit surprised by your reply to my original post. surprised, but not upset. but now, with your last post i am totally blown away!!!...so much so that i said to myself " hey beef,(yes, i frequently call myself beef) whats up with this paul guy and where is all the attitude coming from?". so i clicked on your name and looked into the past and found that you are the guy who drives around in your car and checks out all the new/ local efs and then comes on here and tells everyone all about them, although all you did was just drive by them ...now, with that being said, are you sure you are in a good position to be telling other people how to spend their free time???
now, as far as your last post goes, i don't know where to begin.....

1. you are canada???..cool, so am i....eh
2. Mate??......why did you choose that wording??..was that supposed to offend or bother me?
3. chin up young man was not meant as any sort of "comeback"(???)
4. you need not apologize for your previous post..it wasn't really insensitive. stupid, yes, but insensitive...nooooo
5. truth be told, i don't spend alot of time at home. besides my regular job, i have other ventures that keep me quite busy...way too busy to drive around staking out the local language schools.

by the way, anyone out there that might be looking, i will have a few labrador ( chocolate) retriever puppies and 1 rottweiler puppy available soon. not work or show quality, buy great pet quality dogs. labrador puppies were sired and whelped by indo. champions

6. you have a very ignorant view of soccer. i used to think the same way you did....actually, your wording was exactly what i used to say to soccer fans....but once i left my ( our) great northern homeland, i took it upon myself to open up to new things and although it did take awhile, i found that soccer was not what i had so ignorantly accused it of being. paul, there is a reason why every part of the world , except ours, loves it. if you still don't like it, great, thats your call, but in your last post here, it looks like you are insulting the sport as a way of getting at me. thats pretty childish, don't you think?
7. in the end you offered the suggestion to switch to astro quickly, and i thank you for your input but as it turns out, i think i will be staying with indovision as it still has all the highlight shows and sportscenter, where i can catch up on what i miss.
8. last one, i promise...... i find it very sad that you have been waiting this long to take your shot at me. my response to your previous thread obviously offended you and that makes me chuckle...thanks for the laughs, good luck......driving around??......looking at language schools???

Breeder, sorry, Beefer - do you breed your dogs then sell them on? If so how much would you charge for a Rott and can you train him to attack the Roti sellers on sight?

Seriously though - I am interested in purchasing a pup - PM me prices please, I don't want to buy a sickie from an overpriced pet store.

a good point, treacle....

i think this post will get the thread locked, as it is off topic, but i think it is good advice for anyone looking to buy a dog here in indo....

NEVER BUY A DOG FROM A PET STORE HERE.... almost all ( 99%) of the pet stores have a direct affiliation with a breeder or group of breeders and whose job it is to sell the dogs that the breeder can't ( for whatever reason)... it doesn't always mean that the dog is sick, but i can guarantee you it is way overpriced and for whatever reason was not sold originally by the breeder....most of you already knew that, i just threw it out there for those that may not have....and i'm sure most of you don't care anyway ....so i hope that covers everybody

actually, i guess its ok if the moderator locks this thread as i have already been able to solve my initial inquiry regarding indovision.
and a special thankyou to paul for your help in that matter Razz

Indeed, like I said, PM me prices - I'm quite serious about the Rott pup but need to get a fix on the cost - something else these dubious pet stores excel in is overpricing.

Best,

Im interested in a puppy also, but maybe a bit later in the year. Could you PM me the contact details, so I can keep it on file. Would puppies be allowed in a townhouse?????

Anyway, whats your thoughts on the puppies and kittens that are usually sold near IZZI pizza in Menteng, at taman lawang during the day.... because at night its other things that are for sale Smile

Funny but it kind of brings me back to an idea I had years ago about how to make football a bit more interesting. I was considering the idea of 'dogball' whereby two teams could chase after a dog and see if they could give it a good hard kick. A point for each contact or maybe ,if it were a small enough dog ( say , one of those annoying yappy ones) it could be kicked into a gaol.
I personally wouldn't watch it because I am an animal lover, but it would add some much needed spice to the 'beautiful game'.
