I am currently considering applying for work with ECC. Can anyone out there advise me about any positive/negative aspects to working for them? Does anyone know what areas they cover? Anyone had poor/great experiences with them? thanks

yeah, i worked for ecc in the chubu area for the past 2 years and just got back to vancouver. the general answer is, yeah, of all of the eikaiwas its probably the best. all the people that i met that worked at nova, geos, aeon, ect...all seemed envious of ecc. im not sure what those places are like but ill just let you know what ecc is like.

positives...good mix of kids classes, conversation, and esl classes. good 2 week training program before you start. very reasonable english management staff. no pressure to sell. you get books, lesson plans, curriculums, and other stuff to teach but if you want to add your own ideas or lesson plans thats ok (as long as you know what youre doing). 5 weeks vacation a year.

negatives...sometimes you work at a different school every day (but every week is the same...this could be a positive anyways). 29.5 hours a week so that you dont qualify for health insurance (but i think theyve changed that now). chubu area makes you go through a crooked housing agent called interlink that rips you off (but kanto and kansai housing is done directly though ecc). so yeah...all of the negatives arent big ones at all.

overall i really have nothing bad to say about ecc. the only people ive ever heard that have had problems there are people who would have problems at any company. i say go for the interview...just study grammar before you go so you can pass the grammar test! (which isnt as hard as some people make it out to be). any other q's just let me know.
