these guys seem to be one of the main firms for teaching in greece. their website sounds good, but are they? any comments greatly appreciated, as i'm considering the option of using them to find me work (though i'll steer clear of athens! it sounds terrible).

thanks ...

I think they are a recruitment agency not a chain. You should be aware of the fact that teaching in Greece is a guarantee of poverty. Incomes are low. And watch out for problems if you do not have nationality of a EU member state.

I got a job through them a few years back in the north east of Greece.
They are basically a recruitment agency who place you then leave you to it. The school i ended up at was badly organised and very poorly paid. All the claims by the guy who interviewed me that salary would be easy to live on went up in smoke by the end of the first month.
There were no standards at the school i was placed in and i was constantly expected to pass students through classes regardless of their ability because if i failed them then their parents would come and remove them from the school thus costing my boss money!
The result of this great policy was that at one point i was teaching an FCE class of students who could not even get beyond 'hello...how are you?'.
Suffice to say arguments ensued. There was no support from Anglo-hellenic on this matter.
I did complete the contract but it was more out of sense of not wanting to quit than any sort of fulfillment.
Obviously it will depend on the school what sort of experience you have. I found the adults and young children thre to be great students but the teenagers were forced to attend by parents and were a nightmare.
Good luck.
