I have posted about this business on here before. In the light of recent events I feel compelled to do so again.

MOD EDIT is the offensive fabricator of the worst lies, non payer of wages and other legally required compensations and owner of this shabby little business. I feel that it is in the public interest that this person is dealt with to the maximum extent of the law and it is therefore in the public interest that others are made aware of his potential behavior towards them.

1. MOD EDIT has incorrectly claimed I made sexually offensive comments to a student on 2 occasions and so I was 'summarily dismissed' by him because of his 'zero tolerance posture' and the grave seriousness of this matter. Needless to say that this is a lie, created the day after I left in the safety of his cheap little suite. Not so safe - under investigation by the Kobe Labor Standards department he then claimed that I wasn't dismissed, in fact I was simply politely requested to go home and wait out my notice period which i had already given him verbally and then again later in writing. Despite writing numerous offensive emails since that time directly to me stating the reason for my immediate and sudden 'termination' he told the Department inspector that none of this happened and that there was 'no point' dismissing me because I had a few days to work on my notice. He even claimed this in the face of evidence typed by his own hand in which he stated i had been 'terminated'. He attempted to wriggle out of this by blaming the Labor Department translator's competence at English and that she was incapable of understanding his abstract meaning. This is quite strange as MOD EDIT wrote to me, I quote 'you were summarily dismissed by me on the 7th June 2006'. The devious lies of MOD EDIT unravels. This whole situation began with a terrible lie and as is always the case the liar has fallen foul of his own criminal behavior. Most importantly, if there was 'no point' dismissing me then I clearly didn't commit any misconduct while working there. All this to avoid paying me my wages and gain pleasure from personally insulting me. A big mistake, by claiming I was dismissed he has cost himself a further 30 days wages ontop of that already unpaid. MOD EDIT behavior has been so twisted as to damage his ethical and professional reputation, and possibly throw his sanity/grip on reality in to question.
After the first inspection at which MOD EDIT lied through his teeth, I attended a second meeting at the Nishi-Higashi Labour Department offices in Kobe and showed them further clear and compelling evidence that MOD EDIT had stated that he had dismissed me and should should pay a 30 day dismissal allowance. MOD EDIT has recently left Japan for his country of Canada and will apparently return shortly to face a second inspection and possible court hearing.

I have heard that MOD EDIT is a well respected member of the ex-pat community. Sadly, this doesnt say much for the ex-pat community in Kobe or perhaps those who respect MOD EDIT meet him while excessively inebriated or share similar disgusting personal traits. I would urge you to beware this foul little man.

Interesting!

I recently left this establishment and while I had no such difficulties with MOD EDIT I can say that I was glad to go. The students are weak examples even by Japanese convo-school standards and the school doesn't even use textbooks so you're left to devise all of the lessons from thin air. This lack of focus by all concerned leads to some undesirable responses by the students such as 'do we have to do this', 'I really don't want to do listening exercises again' and 'is that it!?' and so on. It's a bit of a pain because you do start off trying your best but soon inevitable disillusionment sets in.
Honestly, I think anyone would be better of at NOVA because they at least have a structure and place some demands on the students in terms of their attitudes, plus the environment isn't as shabby at NOVA.

Ive been meaning to respond to this thread on The New Village for some time but as it isnt exactly a priority its taken me a while. Of course a small language center of seemingly dubious repute would never be a priority.
However, I would like to briefly contribute by saying that I do have some personal aquaintance with the rentee of the New Village from his p/t work at Konan University where he does a few hours a week. Suffice to say he is prone to exaggeration - most particularly about his own abilities and experiences, but also about the conduct of others around him. Take him with a `pinch of salt`. Unfortunately, within the realms of his own business it would seem that more than a pinch of salt is required.

KCorv100, perhaps you had a relatively clean (if short) run with MOD EDIT because the OP snapped him back into line?

If that is the case then I thank the outspoken OP for delvering the 'snaps'.

The thing I found most amusing about working at The New Village was that his rude and arrogant wife felt she was quite an intellectual.
MOD EDIT is Japanese and seeks to teach TOEIC - yet she cannot deal with articles, prepositions and other necessary language items.
In short its a joke school - and when i say its amusing, perhaps its more of a tragedy. The New Village attracts human waste to its cheap rooms where they behave accordingly.
I certainly won't be including The New Village on my resume.
