In relation with my job, I will be in Santiago in November and is planning to take one week of one-on-one intensive Spanish classes on executive level (pofessonal and in the area of international relations/project management)
- Can any one you recommend a good institute?
I have my eyes on
1) Cursos-de-idiomas.com. (Escuela Bellavista, Santiago, Chile)
2) Tandem (Violeta Bellavista)
3) Ecela (Latinimmersion)
4) Amerispand (much higher fee that the others)

Do you know any of these or can you recommend some others?
I am NOT interested in turist Spanish language classes, but Spanish classes directed towards using Spanish at executive and advanced level.
Thanks a lot!

For the most part English teachers don't take language courses in the country that they're living in, and certainly they don't take expensive ones....so this is why you probably haven't heard a response.

From my experience on the other end of the profession, I can tell you that taking 1-week of classes is pretty much a complete waste of your money, unless your company is paying for it.....if you already speak enough Spanish to be taking an advanced course then you speak enough to manage, if you don't speak enough to get by then you are going to be in the same boat at the end of one week of classes. A language isn't something that you can make a significant change in that quickly (the institutes will tell you otherwise, but for obvious reasons)

If you have any questions please email me directly:

Yes, Mike is right. I am in Buenos Aires, Argentina this week, but I have been living in Chile and I have discovered a few things about the country. If you really want to learn clean business Spanish, you should stay for at least a few months. You will learn fast once you get here, especially if you go to a lesser known city. I don't know much about Santiago. Go to a city in the far north or south to avoid contact with foreigners.

PS: You'll be in for a treat when you head over to Argentina.

A week is all that I got and my Spanish is advanced - I manage perfectly well, but I want to have some guidance in terms of my weaknesses et al. So am I aiming at improving my gramma and written Spanish, also in order to become more efficient. Surely one week in an institute in a Spanish speaking country must be better than studying it in a non-spanish speaking country....or?
