Does anyone know anything about this such as do I have to get this in the US, how much does it cost, how long does it take to process, etc?

You can get a working holiday visa if you have $2500 in travelers checks and write yourself up a little itinerary..  |

Americans cannot get working holiday visas.
Aside from the FAQ, why not check out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs web site for all the necessary details.

You get an employer to sponsor your work visa, together you apply for the visa, it costs you nothing until you get it (then 4000 yen), and you're in. Expect 4-8 weeks average processing time. |
