Hi
I've been told by the Polish consulate in Sydney that I have to get a job from Australia, then apply for and get a working Visa from Australia before arriving in Poland. But from reading some of these forum threads, I seem to be picking up that there may be a way that I can get around this, ie turn up in Poland on a tourist visa which allows me 90 days in the country, find work and a place to live, and then apply for the working visa with the assistance of the school. I hope so because my long-booked flight date is fast approaching and I have been unsuccessfully jobhunting from Australia since October last year - not a job offer yet - and I feel like the main thing against me is the fact that I'm here rather than Poland because I have had positive feedback from my applications and 1 interview. Can anyone who has spent time in Poland share any experiences of finding work in Poland and then getting a visa in this way? Much appreciated!

There really is no way to get around this. I had to do it before I got my Polish citizenship. The Embassy in Sydney is not helpful and you would do best to try and find a job here in Poland with a company that will sponsor you so you can get the Visa.
That being said, you (like everyone else) can try working under the table. Happens. Whether it's worth the risk or not is up to you. |

I have to say that it's likely not worth the risk these days, with new Schengen zone rules. Did you hear about the US citizens held in a refugee camp in the Czech Rep for overstaying their visas? The new scrutiny of foreigners wont' be limited to the CR, I'm pretty sure. |
