Please, does anyone know a website or the website that gives the different types of visas here in China and the rules of each? I know I have seen such a site, but cannot find it now and I need it.
Thanks. |

go here:
http://www.fbt-chinavisa.com.hk/
this company is well-known in HK for getting chinese visas. the only one they cant get is the Z visa as i remember. anyway, they give a basic outline of what you want here and if you email them with any additional questions, they will reply to you.

Just what exactly do you want to do? Are you perhaps hoping there is a web site that says it is OK to work with a F visa? |

What I am looking for is a document that I can print off the computer and show the flippin' stupid people in the office where I am at that it is against the law in China to teach on an F visa. So I hope answers your smart app remark.
I have lived and worked in China for more than 5 years. I am aware of Chinese law. I traveled more than 45 hours to get to this remote part of China to teach in a position that is paid by a foundation. I asked several times about the visa because I was near HK and could easily have procured the correct visa. I was told that it would be taken care of, I did not completely trust that answer. But since it was a position that pays very well, in an area that not many foreign teachers are invited to, I thought okay, I will go. There are two other teachers here in this city. One came as a volunteer and took a paid position. The other teacher said he was simply unaware that an F visa could not be used to teach.(please no comments about that, we have had quite a conversation on that subject.) The volunteer teacher found out that the school doesnt have permission to have fts. So an NGO group does the administration of the English program for this school. They tried to tell me that under these special circumstances that an F visa was okay. I said, "wrong" and I also told them that I would not even teach on the F or L visa. I am trying to help the other two teachers fight city hall. I know I have seen a website that gave information about what one can and cannot do on a visa type. But it has been a long time ago. I want to slap the English version and a translated version right in the NGO leader's face. Politely, of course. The foundation that pays my salary told me that they have been trying for a couple of years to get the NGO group and the school to get the permission. They withheld funds last year. I do not why they are funding me now. So if you know the place that lists the dos and donts. please share it. |

Dude, if your source is by an org that is not of Chinese nature, you are not working illegally. You are deemed a "Volunteer" and it is common to have an F visa in this situation.. The downside is that it aint easy to get residence status in that situation.
Doesnt seem like a good idea to agree to work "Illegally" as you put it, and then topple the apple cart over the folks paying that great salary you were talking about. My guess is that aint gonna work out too well for ya beating your chest and slapping papers in front of admins.. |

Thanks, Upchuckles, for your food for thought. I will bring up what you say to the other teachers and the foundations involved.
Arioch36, If you think you can do a better job, please, by all means, have at it.
I have already been to that website days ago...maybe, the site I am looking is no longer available. Thanks for all your help...even if some of it was sarcastic.... |
