Not to blame students/show frustration in the classroom. Still working on it...

There isn't necessarily only one right answer. There are many (sometimes contradictory) truths. We learn more than we can teach.

I learned:

--I genuinely like children, especially 5-10 year olds. And they like me too! Very Happy

--When teaching, especially in a formal setting, I have a huge amount of patience.

I guess I should my own here...I like the ones about patience and not blaming the students..but perhaps for me the most important thing has been that there really is such a lot for ME to learn and that learning never stops. Also I have learned to ADMIRE people who put the effort in to learn a foriegn language.

I used to be rather frightened of children, but have learnt to be their guide, friend, teacher.

I have learned tons about other countries and cultures from my students (not to mention my own, ironically enough). I feel like I have exited a bubble that I didn't even know I was in. Confused

All of the above plus you can never be too generous with praise. Focus on the positive as much as possible and encourage, encourage, encourage.

Tomorrow or the next time you teach. Ask your learners how many students are in the class. If you have a 'class'' of 8 then I am sure they will answer 8. However point out to them there are 9 students in the class. Maybe it's my teaching style but i probably learn more than my 'students' do than they do. There are 9 students in the class
