What is the most important thing YOU have learned while being a teacher? |

Not to blame students/show frustration in the classroom. Still working on it...

There isn't necessarily only one right answer. There are many (sometimes contradictory) truths. We learn more than we can teach. |

I learned:
--I genuinely like children, especially 5-10 year olds. And they like me too!
--When teaching, especially in a formal setting, I have a huge amount of patience. |

I guess I should my own here...I like the ones about patience and not blaming the students..but perhaps for me the most important thing has been that there really is such a lot for ME to learn and that learning never stops. Also I have learned to ADMIRE people who put the effort in to learn a foriegn language. |

I used to be rather frightened of children, but have learnt to be their guide, friend, teacher. |

I have learned tons about other countries and cultures from my students (not to mention my own, ironically enough). I feel like I have exited a bubble that I didn't even know I was in. |

All of the above plus you can never be too generous with praise. Focus on the positive as much as possible and encourage, encourage, encourage. |

Tomorrow or the next time you teach. Ask your learners how many students are in the class. If you have a 'class'' of 8 then I am sure they will answer 8. However point out to them there are 9 students in the class. Maybe it's my teaching style but i probably learn more than my 'students' do than they do. There are 9 students in the class |
